Every truck carries the parts for common failures. The price is confirmed before we open anything up.
Total or partial outage
No power in the house or in one section only. We find the break and restore it.
A partial outage almost always means a circuit failed somewhere between the panel and the outlet. We trace the circuit section by section until we find the break.
If the whole street is dark it is the utility, and we tell you straight without charging the trip. If it is your house, the truck already carries the parts to restore power that evening.
Priority 1
Panel and breakers
Panel replacement, added circuits, upgrade from 100 A to 200 A. Everything brought up to code.
A saturated panel trips breakers for no obvious reason and runs hot inside. Moving from 100 A to 200 A settles the problem for twenty years.
We file the paperwork with the utility and coordinate the temporary shutoff. The certificate of compliance is handed to you when the work is done.
By appointment
Burning smell or overheating
A cable running hot, a scorched outlet, sparks. Shut the breaker off and call right away.
A hot plastic smell near an outlet means a contact is arcing inside the wall. This is the one situation where we ask you to kill the breaker before you even hang up.
We arrive with a thermal camera to find the hot spot without tearing anything down. The section is replaced that evening and the circuit is put back in service in front of you.
Call do not wait
Outlets switches and wiring
A dead outlet, a faulty switch, added GFCI protection. We settle it the same day.
A dead outlet usually hides a loose wire in a neighbouring box rather than a break inside the wall. We test the whole circuit before concluding anything.
Bathroom and kitchen outlets have required GFCI protection for years now. We bring them up to standard while we are already on site.
Same day
EV charging station
Installation of a 240 V charger for an electric car, with the rebate paperwork included.
We check whether the panel has the capacity before promising a 40 A charger. The load calculation is shown to you and explained.
Installation takes half a day in most garages. We fill out the rebate forms with you before we leave.

Generator and service entrance
A torn service entrance, a damaged mast, a generator hookup after a storm. We secure it first.
A mast torn off by a branch has to be secured before the utility can reconnect the house. We do the temporary repair that same night if needed.
A generator is tied in with a transfer switch, never through an extension cord in an outlet. That is the difference between heating the house and setting it on fire.

Frequent questions
The questions from the phone. Our answers without the runaround
These are the four questions that come up on every call. The answers are the same by day and by night.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
The trip and diagnosis are billed at $125 during the day and $195 between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and on weekends. That amount is credited on the invoice if you accept the work.
Do you come out at night and on holidays?
Yes, 365 days a year. Night service is covered by two crews in rotation, never by a subcontractor.
Are you licensed and insured?
RBQ licence 5812-3456-01, member of the CMEQ, and $2M in liability insurance. Proof of insurance is available on request before any work starts.
What should I do while I wait for you?
Shut off the breaker for that circuit if you can do it safely, unplug the affected devices, and do not touch any bare wire. We guide you on the phone while we head out.
